Transitional Advising
Each student will be assigned a transitional advisor to provide you with individual support and guidance to complete onboarding tasks through Your Road to UM and help you navigate the university's academic and administrative systems.
Acdemic Advising
Once you have committed to the School of Education and Human Development, you will be assigned an Academic Advisor from the School of Education and Human Development. In preparation for enrolling in classes in your first semester at UM, you will need to
- Activate your UM Email
- Attend the Pre-Orientation Meeting. An invitation to this Zoom Meeting will be sent to your UM email.
Once you have completed the new student checklist, activated your UM student email account, and attended the Pre-Orientation session, you will begin to receive emails from your SEHD Academic Advisor about your first appointment.
During your initial appointment, your Academic Advisor will provide you with guidance about what to expect in your first semester at UM, the options that you should consider when selecting first-semester classes, and information about the registration process.
