Research Honors Program: Students are nominated to the SEHD Research Honors program; a prestigious nomination that represents a very small and competitive number of students in the school (top 5%)! The nomination to the program is based on their grade point average, capacity for research and a demonstrated curiosity in their field. Honors students work closely with a faculty member to design a research project, conduct the research, data collection and data analysis over the course of two years beginning in the fall of their junior year. The centerpiece of the program is a written thesis and presentation of the thesis research in a public forum.
Students will receive Honors designation on their UM transcripts from the School of Education and Human Development as well as honor cords to be worn at commencement upon successful completion of the research project and earning a 3.5 major GPA with a cumulative GPA of 3.75.
